2026 AvD Winter Tire Test P14 of 15

The Double Coin DW300 finished fourteenth and is rated not recommended. Its strong snow results do not make up for wet braking that falls far short of the rest of the field, and AvD warned against buying it. Its wet braking was also near the bottom of earlier tests.

Performance Analysis

Drawn from 3 tests. Updated October 13, 2026.

The Double Coin DW300's clearest pattern is exceptionally poor wet braking: it placed 14th of 15 in 2026, 52nd of 54 in 2023 and 57th of 57 in the 2022 wet-braking results, stopping 36-41.9% farther than the best tire. It finished 14th of 15 overall in the 2026 AvD test, which rated it 'not recommended' and warned against buying it. The two earlier Auto Bild events were braking screenings rather than full assessments.

Snow braking was the striking exception: second of 15 in 2026, just 0.8% behind the best, with AvD awarding it the second-best snow score ahead of every premium tire. Rolling resistance was also better than the test average. Neither offset AvD's findings of weak dry braking, vague wet and dry handling, poor comfort and short tread life.
