Michelin CrossClimate 2 vs Nokian Seasonproof 2

Michelin's CrossClimate 2 and Nokian's new Seasonproof 2 are both all-season touring tires aimed at year-round road comfort and safety, but they approach the brief differently. Across three shared 2025 tests, Nokian took all overall wins, while Michelin repeatedly set the standard in dry stopping and efficiency. That split defines this matchup: ultimate wet confidence and balanced snow performance from Nokian versus Michelin's benchmark dry control, winter braking/traction edge, and lower rolling resistance.

Real World Driver Reviews

Michelin CrossClimate 2 Driver Reviews

Across 129 reviews, the Michelin CrossClimate 2 is most often described as a highly confidence-inspiring all-weather tire with standout snow/slush capability and strong dry braking/handling for its category, letting many drivers avoid seasonal tire swaps. Comfort and cabin refinement are frequently praised, with many finding it quieter and smoother than prior summer or OEM tires, and tread life is commonly reported as good when aligned/rotated. The main recurring drawbacks are mixed wet-road feedback (a meaningful minority report reduced wet grip or aquaplaning confidence, sometimes worsening with wear), plus reports of higher noise on certain surfaces/with age, a small fuel/EV range penalty, and premium pricing.

Nokian Seasonproof 2 Driver Reviews

Drivers report the Nokian Seasonproof 2 is a very confidence-inspiring all-season tire, with standout wet-road grip/aquaplaning resistance and strong braking, plus surprisingly capable performance on snow and even ice for many users. Comfort and road noise are frequently praised, with several noting a quieter, smoother ride than previous tires. A smaller minority mention a less-direct or "floaty/squirmy" steering feel at higher speeds (notably on certain cars), which was severe for one low-scoring review.

Car = 2014 Infiniti Q60 AWD (aka G37 Coupe / CV36 Skyline - RWD bias ATTESA AWD) Overall, pleased with the tire as I wanted a comfortable tire with long tread life and a true "All-Season" tire for the winter months as I have not yet purchased a set of dedicated summer wheels/tires yet. Coming from previous Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ which lasted around 52k of 45k mile rating with sometimes spirited driving, so have no reason to doubt Michelin's tread ware claims, at least on my vehicle. Handling in the dry, the AS3+ was better when taking curves/turns and activated the VDC/TCS less often,... Continue reading this review using the link below

Conclusion

The Seasonproof 2 consistently tops overall rankings by dominating wet braking and handling, maintaining strong snow capability, and adding a quieter ride. The CrossClimate 2 counters with shorter dry stops in every test, slightly better snow braking/traction in two of three programs, and clearly lower rolling resistance-translating to better fuel efficiency. In practice, the performance gaps that matter are wet (favoring Nokian by meaningful margins in braking/handling) and efficiency (favoring Michelin).
Choose Nokian if your priority is maximum wet-road safety and a calm cabin; choose Michelin if you value short dry stops, frugal running, and confident winter bite. Both are well-rounded, but the Seasonproof 2 is the more complete all-season package in mixed European weather, while the CrossClimate 2 remains a superb, efficient benchmark for dry-led commuting with regular winter exposure.
Key Differences
  • Wet performance: Nokian leads wet braking by ~6-10% and wet handling by ~2.5-3%
  • Dry stopping: Michelin consistently stops shorter (≈2-6% advantage)
  • Efficiency: Michelin's rolling resistance lower by ~10-15%
  • Aquaplaning: Nokian holds a clear straight-line advantage
  • Snow mix: Michelin edges braking/traction; Nokian edges handling in two tests
  • Noise/comfort: Nokian measures quieter by ~1 dB in key test

Footnote

This page has been developed using tire industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tires in the same test.

Why is this important? Tire testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tire test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tire tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tire Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tire comparison, Tire Reviews doesn't.
