Performance Analysis
Drawn from 1 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.
The Kumho WinterCraft Ice Wi51 finished sixth of six Nordic friction tires in Teknikens Varld's 2021 Studless and Studded Winter Tire Test. Its best measured result was dry braking, first in that class at 31.5 meters, while wet braking was third, 4.6% behind the class best. Testers also praised its low rolling resistance and snow performance. Snow braking, traction and handling were all fourth of six, with gaps of 2.2%, 3.5% and 1.3% respectively, so it was reasonably close to its class leaders on snow despite those modest placings.
The short dry stopping distance did not translate into good dry handling, which the testers explicitly criticised. Ice performance was weaker: braking was fourth, 9.9% behind the class best, and handling fifth, 7.7% behind. Wet handling was last in class, although the lap-time gap was only 0.8%, and its subjective noise score also ranked sixth of six. These are results from one test in 205/55 R16, judged against other Nordic friction tires; they establish a mixed performance within that class rather than a pattern across several tests.
