2022 ViBilagare Nordic SUV Winter Tire Test P6 of 8

DM-V3 is the name of the SUV version of Bridgestone's classic friction tire Blizzak. In terms of results, the tire ends up in something of a no-man's land. It achieves few top results in the test rounds, but it does not fall through negatively in any round. Its advantages are good sound comfort, short braking distance on dry roads and well-balanced driving characteristics with good cornering grip on snow. Unfortunately, for a Nordic winter tire, it has some grip problems on the ice where it falls behind the other well-known premium names. Despite four longitudinal drainage channels, the aquaplaning ability does not impress either. Without any real top scoring results, it’s a modest point harvest and a sixth place overall.

Strong: Dry Braking Weak: Wet Handling, Snow Traction, Ice Traction, Rolling Resistance Winner: Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV

Performance Analysis

Drawn from 1 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.

The Bridgestone Blizzak DM V3 finished sixth of eight in the 2022 Vi Bilagare Nordic SUV Winter Tire Test, with dry braking and snow cornering its main strengths. It recorded the shortest dry stop at 33.29 meters and placed third in snow handling, only 0.8% behind the quickest lap. The testers praised balanced snow behavior and sound comfort, although measured noise was a middle-ranking fourth at 75.3 dB. These findings describe one comparison in 235/55 R18 against other studless Nordic SUV winter tires.

Wet handling was last, 2.8% slower than the best, while straight-line aquaplaning placed sixth, 12.3% below the leading speed. Rolling resistance was also last, 11.5% above the lowest figure. Ice grip was another reservation within this Nordic field: ice braking and handling were sixth, with deficits of 12.9% and 4.7%, and ice traction seventh, 14.6% behind the best. Snow traction was seventh too, despite the more competitive cornering result, while snow braking placed fifth. The write-up described a modest overall result with few leading scores, and specifically questioned its ice grip and aquaplaning resistance.
