Lexus IS250 RWD Tire Review Highlights
Writing about the Michelin CrossClimate 2 AW given 83% (245-45-18)
Driving on mostly country roads for 3000 average miles
I am using the Michelin CC2 AW (USA SPEC) on my 2007 Lexus IS250 6MT. I have these tires mounted in 245/45/18 size (the OEM size is 255/40/18) but they fit great on my OEM wheels in a different size. I love how soft and comfortable they were compared to my Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 tires I ran previously. I find the grip to be significantly less than the Pilot Sports, where when cornering hard on highway entrance ramps, my car often triggers the traction control light (something I did not experience on my Pilot Sport AS4 tires). The tires are quiet at this time (only 3k miles on them) and I have not noticed a hit in fuel economy where I still average 26-27mpg during my daily commute at (45 degrees Fahrenheit) of 23 miles one way, and 23 miles back home at 60mph. Overall I do enjoy the tires, I feel they will offer much improved longevity compared to my Pilot Sport AS4 tires I had before. The tradeoff is dry and wet grip with a significant increase in ice, snow grip, and longevity.

Worst tires ever. If you even remotely want to drive your car hard, please save yourself the headache and buy something else. The sidewalls are so incredibly soft that steering feel is basically none and the car (If it weighs more than 1200kg) will slide on the tire… cornering confidence is 0 and the car feels like it’s floating everywhere.

Writing about the Hifly HF805 given 51% (255-35-18)
Driving on mostly town for 14000 spirited miles
I’ve been using the Hifly HF805 tires on my Lexus IS250, and while they offer reasonable performance for a budget tire, there are some clear trade-offs. Grip levels are decent in both dry and wet conditions—nothing exceptional, but enough to feel safe for everyday driving. Road noise and comfort are also acceptable.

That said, the downsides are hard to ignore. The most noticeable issue has been how quickly these tires wear down. Tread life is significantly shorter than expected. I have only done just over 20,000 km on these tires, and the treads have dropped to just above the legal minimums. I would have normally put this down to my more spirited driving, but the front tires have worn away just as quickly as the rears. In addition, I’ve noticed that they tend to lose air pressure faster than normal. I’ve had to top them up more frequently than I would with other brands, which can be a hassle as the tire pressure light is almost always on.

Writing about the Laufenn S Fit AS given 62% (225-40-18-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 spirited miles
Quiet and smooth with good grip for dry road driving BUT loose as a goose in the wet breaking traction with only light acceleration out of curves and moderate acceleration in straight line from standing start. These are going back to the retailer!!!

Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 average miles
Worst tire I've ever used. Chinese tires had more grip than these in the wet. Dry grip was ok but this is in no way a daily-able tire due to the dangerously low wet grip.

And to think I had these on my fronts until I switched them to the back.

Writing about the Kumho I Zen KW31 given 46% (225-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 average miles
Outright useless in serious winter conditions. Stopping in the rain is so terrible, you might as well consider them economical, because once you set off, you will never stop again despite your best efforts. Jokes aside, they really are terrible in the wet. The only thing that takes your mind away from the crap performance is when you start thinking about the noise, because they are noisy. Generally, assuming you want to perform spirited driving in the dry, they are okay. I replaced the rear ones for studded Pirelli Ice Zeros which turned out phenomenal, and left the crap Kumho in the front. Left them there for a long time, and the wear didn't seem all too bad. So that's the one single positive aspect about them

Writing about the Michelin Primacy 4 Plus given 70% (225-45-17-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 500 average miles
Super disappointed from these tires.I wanted premium touring tire for my Lexus and purchased the latest Michelins.
Grip dry and wet - good. They have soft sidewalls and bend in the corner but that's to be expected.I prefer the comfort over the bumps which they provide.
The big disappointment is the NOISE.On rough road its dissaster. With 80kmh you cant here the passenger talking. On smooth asphalt they are okay.On rough surface they are MUCH worse than my previous Bridgestone , Kleber , Kumho.
Never again Michelins first and last try.Expensive mistake

Driving on mostly country roads for 30000 easy going miles
Got ZV7s on the rear in summer 2020 and not even a year later a tire shop advised that they started cracking and should monitor them. Contacted Avon for warranty and they didn't really want to say anything unless I returned the tire to them and would get credit in return from the original tire fitter - not guaranteed though. Ran them for a year more and now at around 5.5mm tread have to replace them as the cracking is really bad - both in between the treads and across the treads - even the oval where the DOT is written has cracked....never again!

An absolute waste of money! Do NOT Buy this tyew if you value your family's safety and wish to reach your destination. Absolutely no aftersales support in South Africa. Its pushed by the big tire dealers as a budget tire but they can't help when there's an issue. Rather spend more and buy a better or reputable tire and not risk "tire separation." Kiran

Writing about the Yokohama BluEarth AE50 given 57% (225-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 500 easy going miles
Went from Jinyu 53 tires to yokohama. Straight up after fitment, I noticed how bad the wheels were exposed in comparison to the Jinyus even though both doesn't claim to have any Rim Protect design. These were just so bad. Performance of Yokohama are way better, especially in the wet. I felt very confident on a 70MPH motorway drive in the middle of a cold and windy downpour. Ride comfort is worse than Jinyus- bumpier and way way louder. The stretches where my car used to be absolutely quiet are now producing deafening tire noise. Just not worth the money at all. Would not recommend them even at a 50% discounted sale!
